Missed Last Night...

Sorry I wasn't able to provide you my insight on last night's "Idol Gives Back" special. Unfortunately, I was watching it in the ER where my dad was being treated for a heart attack. As you all know, when it comes to a choice between a TV show and family, it's a no-brainer. He's going to be alright, I think, since he got medical attention relatively quickly, but it was still quite a scare, and I'm sure it's going to change his life forever.

As for the show, there wasn't much that I could comment on anyway. It wasn't anything like a regular American Idol show, and quite frankly there wasn't much I could make fun of. And nobody went home, so we'll just do it all again next week.

Oh... but I would like to point this out. This was my quote from my recap of the Top 8 performing.

We're only two weeks away from "Idol Gives Back," and approximately every celebrity, dead or alive, will of course be appearing. I'm sure they'll digitally edit Elvis Presley in there somewhere. Actually, that would be kinda fun.

Am I good or what?

Ouch about your dad. he is ok right??? Hopefully you and your will have a better outcome then I did with mine. I pray your dad has a great recovery and lives on for many many years with no more trouble.

I missed the "Idol gives Crap" show.... silly me I prefer Jericho and LOST. So who's out?? Guess I'll check the AI website to find out. *S*

I hope your dad is ok now.

Nobody was eliminated. They'll all perform next week. The vote totals for both weeks will be combined and the bottom 2 vote-getters will go home. (Hopefully Chris and Lakisha in one fell swoop.)

Best wishes to your dad, J.D.! I watched last night. It was kind of creepy to see Celine and Elvis singing side by side, and then to see him in 3-D was extra creepy, expecially since Celine was "looking" right at him! At the end of the show, when Ryan was down to Chris and Jordin, and he told Chris he was safe, I about fell out of my chair! I let out this huge gasp, my dog jumped up, and then Ryan tells Jordin she is also safe, after she got teary eyed. That was a cruel thing to do to her! She is my favorite by far, has been from the start (Melinda is good, too but when Jordin sings, I get chills). I hope she wins, and if not, she will get a record deal, how can she not? I so enjoy your critiques, and your wit! And I totally am with you as far as Chris and Lakisha needing to be the next two to go.

I sure hope your Dad recovers well, JD. He needs to be healthy and strong to enjoy his grandkids for years to come.

I can't believe you called the Elvis thing! Did you have some inkling? Some leak? Come on! Fess up! :D Can you also predict for me the precise date of the first killing frost this fall in my area? My veggies and I would appreciate it.

I think we will now have to label you "radio veteran and psychic extraordinaire JD Matthews."

That's funny about the Elvis thing. I hope all goes well with your dad.

I really enjoy your recaps. I started reading them on the Idol boards but then was directed to your blog from your profile. Love your stuff! Best wishes to all.

I hope your dad is better soon. That's so scary, and I've been there with my own dad (who's never had another issue, thank goodness! And that was 11 years ago!)

Is it just my imagination or did Elliott Yamin last year sing rings around what Celine and "Elvis" with "If I Could Dream" last night?

So sorry to hear about your Dad, my prayers have been sent! Family emergencies are so scary, but your priorities are in the right place. You are a good son! Your Dad raised you right. I have heard you talk "family" before and I know they mean the world to you.

I also agree that Lakisha and Chris should go next week. I don't think they will do anything with Bon Jovi that will change my mind and make me jump up and say WOW!

Melinda and Jordin for the final is a must..but I want Jordin to win! They both got deals anyway. I want Phil to be 3rd and Blake 4th.

Again, prayers to your father for healing and also to your family for a feeling of peace during this difficult time.

J.D.,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad.

Thank God he got the medical attention he needed so quickly.
