BLUES MUSICIAN CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE'S MOTHER SLAIN

Tragedy strikes the Memphis music scene as Ruth Musselwhite, mother of Charlie Musselwhite, a Grammy nominated blues musician, was found dead in her home on Monday. A Memphis medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide. The actual cause of death is undetermined as yet. Missing items from Mrs. Musselwhite's home indicate that theft was also involved.

Charlie Musselwhite is a prolific and skilled blues and jazz musician, ranked among greats such as John Coltrane, B.B. King, Miles Davis, John Lee Hooker, and many more. According to a report by Daralene Jones of WREG-TV in Memphis, Musselwhite would appreciate the public respecting his family's privacy, but also states "Obviously this is a sad time for myself and my family. I have the utmost confidence in the Memphis Police Department and am waiting to find out, through their investigation, the details of my mother's death."

Anyone with any information pertaining to this crime can call Memphis Crimestoppers anonymously at (901) 528-CASH. There is an unspecified reward for any information that leads to an arrest.

We here at Musical Ramblings offer our most sincere condolences, prayers, and hopes that justice will be done and that the family will be comforted.
